Youth Mika Diaz enrolled into the YES! Program July 2019 in search of an education and a long-term career. Mika was a recent high school graduate working in a fast food restaurant that would only give her 20 hours a week. She was barely making ends meet and knew she needed to make some drastic changes in her life. She was determined and motivated to enter the medical field as a Dental Assistant. Within two months of enrollment into the YES! program Mika was granted admission into Concorde Career Institute using the Occupational Skills Tuition Assistance and she maintained a 3.5 GPA until she graduated in June 2020. Upon completion of her course studies she entered her 240-hour externship at Texas Tykes. Mika was recently offered permanent employment at Texas Tykes as a Dental Assistant and has already begun the process of applying to the Dental Hygienist program.
