EXTERNSHIPS FOR TEACHERS
Workforce Solutions Alamo teacher externships provide educators of the 13-County Alamo Region the opportunity to connect classrooms to careers. By offering hands-on experiences in high-demand, high-growth industries, educators gain the skills, tools, and knowledge to enhance student learning in middle and high school classrooms.
BENEFITS
- Continuing education units from Region 20
- $500 stipend
- $50 supply stipend
- Direct interaction and hands-on experience with industry leaders
- Strengthen classroom curriculum and enhance student learning
ELIGIBILITY
- Employed middle and high school educators
- Subject: STEM, CTEs, Math, Science
- Employed high school or middle school counselors and administrators
- School of employment must be a public or charter school within the 13-County Alamo Region (Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Gillespie, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, McMullen, Medina and Wilson counties)
- Complete eligibility requirements can be found here
TIME FRAME & PROCESS
- Apply and complete the registration process
- A week before your scheduled externship, complete your assigned self-paced online preparation modules
- Participate in the in-person externship with employers (10 days in-person 4-hour site visits)
- Attend 1 in-person PD
- Complete lessons/professional development plan by July 9
- Complete end-of-externship survey
- All Requirements must be completed by July 9 to receive stipend.
