WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

The Work Experience program is an opportunity to provide qualified candidates a supervised, structured learning environment, experiencing basic work habits as well as occupational skills with the goal of fulltime employment.

Objective

To provide work experience in a supervised, structured learning environment so that trainees will again experience in basic work habits as well as occupational skills. The aim is to increase the participating trainee’s likelihood of securing regular unsubsidized employment.

Eligibility

To participate in the program trainees must be authorized to work in the US and meet WIOA Adult Dislocated worker eligibility. They also must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Less than 2 years with the last employer

  • Less than 2 years total work experience

  • 5 or more jobs in the last 2 years

  • Work skills that need upgrading

  • No work experience in the last 2 years

  • Classroom training, but no work experience

 

Basic Details of the program:

  • Workforce Solutions Alamo (WSA) will provide an eligible trainee for interview.

  • Required documents; Work Experience/Subsidized Employment Agreement, Supervisor handbook, Injury Report Form.

  • During the program WSA is considered the employer of record.

  • Length of the program is 240 hours, any extension will be based on available funding and approval

  • No incumbent employees are eligible.

  • No overtime is permitted, trainees must not exceed 40 hours per week.

  • Trainees are not paid for holidays, sick days or vacation.  

  • WSA covers the trainee’s liability and Worker’s Compensation insurance in the event of an onsite accident.

  • Company will provide necessary tools, supplies & equipment needed for the WE assignment.

  • Trainees must submit a bi-weekly timesheet to Workforce Solutions for payment.

  • Pay period is Bi-Weekly.

  • Pay rate: Determined by the employer, which is to be the exact amount any other employee at the same level in the same position would be paid (prevailing wage). This amount will be completely subsidized by WSA and paid directly to the participant.

  • Company will notify WSA if the trainee is suspended for unacceptable behavior.

  • Trainee will not displace, replace or prevent employment of an individual not participating in WE.   

  • Processing Times: It takes approximately 10 working days to process completed and accurate paperwork for participant to include a Work Experience Agreement packet, Supervisor Handbook release/training, an Injury Report Form release and background check/drug testing if needed.

  • The participant must not begin work until the placement has been approved after the processing time period.

  • The Work Experience program is administered by C2 Global Professional Services, Inc.
