About Us

The Texas Workforce Commission, Workforce Solutions Alamo and the Texas Veterans Commission all work together to provide employment, training, and related services to veterans via a network of partnerships and dedicated staff.

We also have staff available to serve transitioning military members and family members seeking employment in the Alamo region.

Transitioning Service Members

Workforce Solutions Alamo provides resources to Transitioning Service Members. Please use the links below to explore career options and resources.

  • Career One Stop  - "Veteran and Military Transition Center is a one-stop website for employment, training, and financial help after military service."

  • DOD SkillBridge - "The DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences."

Military Spouses

Military Family Support Program

The Military Family Support Program provides:

  • Enhanced Job search assistance

  • Skills assessment

  • Labor market information

  • Resume and interview skills 

  • Training for high-demand occupations

Eligibility:

  • Must be the spouse of a member of the armed forces on active duty who has experienced job loss due to relocation and permanent change in duty station

  • The spouse of a member of the armed forces on active duty and who is unemployed or underemployed and is experiencing difficulty in obtaining or upgrading employment

  • Texas Veterans Commission  - Our purpose has always been to act as the state appointed advocate of Texas veterans as they attempt to secure the benefits rightfully earned in exchange for their service in our nation’s armed forces.

  • U.S. Department of Veterans Assistance - A consolidation and coordination of Government activities affecting war veterans

  • Bexar County Military and Veterans Service Center - The Bexar County Military and Veterans Services Center (MVSC) is an advocate agency that provides professional and tailored services to the military and veteran communities throughout the Veteran Cycle.

  • Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve - A Department of Defense office, led and operated by dedicated volunteers and staff whose mission is to gain and sustain the active support of America’s employers for the men and women serving in the Guard and Reserve by increasing awareness of federal and state laws, promoting compliance through education, recognizing supportive employers with an awards program, providing informal mediation services to resolve disputes related to an employee’s military service obligation, and aid Guard and Reservists in obtaining career employment opportunities.

  • Military Officers Association of America - The nation’s largest and most influential association of military officers. A powerful force speaking for a strong national defense and representing the interests of military officers and their families at every stage of their careers.

  • Bexar County Veterans Services Office - An advocate agency established to assist veterans, their dependents and survivors obtain earned benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The VSO also collaborates with local, state and federal government agencies, nationally chartered Veterans service organizations and non-profit agencies to assist clients in obtaining needed specialized services.

  • Veterans Resource and Career Center – Goodwill San Antonio - Goodwill’s programs and services are tailored to help Veterans recognize and translate those military skills into meaningful civilian jobs or careers.

  • Base ReAlignment and Closure (BRAC): Assist in the development of a community planning and comprehensive response to base(s) realignment and closure. Funds may be used to provide direct employment and training services to both affected workers and spouses of affected military personnel.
