Learn@Work: Site-based Literacy Program

In conjunction with Alamo Colleges, Each One Teach One of San Antonio and Education Service Center Region 20, Workforce Solutions Alamo has formed the Alamo Workplace Literacy Consortium to help employers upskill their employees. 

What does this mean for employers?

This is a great opportunity for WSA and our partners to provide adult workplace literacy training and instruction, English as a Second Language (ESL), GED and other certifications to upskill employees. 

Services will be provided at no cost to employers in the Alamo Region. All expenses are covered. 

What does the process look like? 

Eligibility:

Workers must be employed in Texas

Must be a Texas-based, privately-owned business 

Industries include construction, manufacturing, warehouse logistics, food production/service, hospitality/tourism and healthcare

Orientation:

An onsite information session will be provided

Enrollment: 

Student assessments and placement for GED and ESL courses will be given based on skill level

Training:

Short and long term continuing education options are available 

Training will be customized to meet business demands 

Classes will be held at worksite or other location accessible to employees

Certification: 

Certification and completion certificates awarded

With low unemployment rates and a competitive job market, it is becoming increasingly important to train, develop and retain your workforce. The goal of the Alamo Workplace Literacy Consortium is to provide employers in the Alamo Region the tools they need to upskill workers while meeting business needs through enhanced productivity.
